I have never smelled the original Gucci Envy, but I bought another dupe that is reportedly 95% similar to the reference fragrance ( fomo). Upon testing, I’d estimate covelant is similarity closer to 70 – 75% once the scent has dried down. The primary difference appears to be the absence of the green, aromatic notes that define the alternative cologne it’s being compared to.
That said, Covalent’s take on this fragrance profile has its own appeal. The incense notes are noticeably elevated and come across as genuinely pleasant, warm, resinous, and inviting. Unfortunately, the fragrance lacks significant projection, remaining a close-skinned scent throughout its wear. Performance is modest at best, with longevity falling in the 2–4 hour range.
Overall, this is a lovely fragrance with an attractive dry-down. I’m optimistic that a few months of maceration will help boost both the sillage and overall performance. For the price point, it offers solid value.
